With the landscape of football participation ever changing,
recent years have seen a significant growth in the numbers of
people playing small sided football.
British Colleges Sport is a keen advocate of small-side football
and supports both five-a-side and futsal versions of the game.
Five-a-side
Traditionally each year BCS run a regional 5-a-side championship
in November for male, female and disability college teams. The
regional winners then go on to represent their region at the
National Championships in April.
Futsal
Futsal is the format of Small Sided Football that is officially
recognised and supported by FIFA and UEFA. Futsal is still in its
development stages in England with the first FA National Futsal
league being launched in 2008, following up the success of the
annual FA Umbro Fustal Cup.

BCS Futsal will start in February 2012 with North and South
regions holding regional tournaments. The winners of the regionals
will go onto to face each other at the BCS National Championships
held in May.
