BCS Badminton Cup & Plate Finals Day
On Wednesday 28th March colleges attended the Badminton Cup and
Plate Finals held at Loughborough University.
Each college entered 2 men's singles, 2 women's singles, 2 men's
doubles, 2 women's doubles and 2 mixed doubles teams and the winner
was decided by the most matches won. Matches were best of 3 games
to 21 points. 6 colleges battled it out in the Cup Competition
whilst 4 colleges were competing for the Plate.
The Cup competition was set up into 2 pools of 3 with Runshaw
College and Farnborough 6th Form College victorious in their pools
and Hartlepool 6th Form College and Truro College finishing runners
up in their respective pools.

Farnborough 6th Form College were triumphant in the final, winning
6-4 over Runshaw College whilst Truro College beat Hartlepool
College 6-4 to third position. Meanwhile Milton Keynes College and
Warwickshire College played for 5th and 6th place positions with
Milton Keynes winning a very tightly contested match on
count-back.
Stonyhurst College, Brockenhurst, East Norfolk 6th Form College
and Joseph Chamberlain 6th Form College battled it out in the Plate
competition with Brockenhurst proving eventual winners. East
Norfolk took the runners up position, with Stonyhurst College and
Joseph Chamberlain 6th Form College finishing 3rd and 4th
respectively.

This was an excellent day and well organised with a high standard
of badminton shown throughout the day. Special thanks must go to

organising the competition.
