East Midlands Golf Championship
The event hosted by the East Midlands Colleges attracted a field of
72 players and forms part of the British Colleges Golf Championship
with the top 4 players male and female progressing to the National
finals next spring.
Derby College student, Chloe Stokes was crowned Girls East
Midlands Collegiate Golf Champion on Wednesday 12th October 2011 at
Morley Hayes Golf & Leisure complex.
Chloe returned a solid round of 78 over the demanding par 73
championship courses at Morley Hayes to finish 2 shots ahead of
Rebecca Hovell from Wigston College.
Chloe will now go forward to the BCS National Championships to
represent the East Midlands region next Spring.

manager Nigel Furniss commented; "Chloe deserves her win, she has been working very
hard on her game recently, both technically and physically which
has seen her handicap reduce form 8 to 4 since she started the
Performance Golf programme. We wish Chloe well in the National
Finals next year."
Sam Pollard from Loughborough College came in first place with a
73, one shot ahead of Sam Brackenbury (Lincoln College) with
74.
The 3 man team event, best two net scores to count, was won by
Bilborough College.
