BCS 34th National Championships
The final preparations are being made ahead of
the 34th BCS National Championships which start tomorrow Friday
30th March to the 1st April 2012.
The BCS National Championships covers 14 disciplines of which 10
will be held at Bath University with only Badminton, Football and
Netball taking place off campus. The Golf competition was
held earlier this month at the National Golf Centre Woodhall.
The event will commence with our Opening Ceremony where students
will hear from Guest Speakers such as Rachel Smith who will talk
about her Guinness World Record in Atlantic Ocean Rowing, as well
as being able to view several sports displays. Over the next 2 days
the students will compete in their chosen disciplines by competing
against the best competitors from each of the 11 BCS regions.
During the Championship weekend BCS will for the first year ever
be updating the results from all 45 events directly on to our
website, so even if you are not attending you will be able to view
the results and see the latest news on our Twitter or Facebook pages.
As well as competing in their chosen
sport students are competing for the points for their region.
The region with the most points accumulated over all the
events will be announced overall winner of the 2012 National
Championships at our Closing Ceremony and the region will be
presented with our prestigious perpetual Wilkinson Sword. In
2011 the Wilkinson Sword was won for a fourth consecutive year by
the South East - click here to see the table
and whether they can make it five consecutive years or will another
region be successful!
